CAN I SUE FOR SLANDER OR ANYTHING?

My ex wife called my employer/HR department and infromed them that I was fired from my previous job for having my child and girlfriend come to work with me and that my girlfriend actually sat on my lap while I was working, all of which is untrue. Can I sue her for slander? It has already cost me the chance of a full time job with this company.
